When we opened Little Rock in 2001 we had one simple objective: We wanted to become an established venue for locals and visitors alike offering hearty, quality food reflecting the rich blend of British and Spanish cuisine we enjoy here in sunny Gibraltar.
Little Rock captures some of Gibraltar’s unique history and proudly displays some of the links to one of its world-famous owners – Albert Hammond OBE. Probably Gibraltar’s most famous son, Albert is renowned worldwide for his music both as a performer and songwriter and many of his impressive hits are now considered all-time classics. With record sales of some 350 million spanning a career of 40 years, Little Rock is proud to be associated with such musical royalty.
Our location couldn’t be better! Situated at the heart of Casemates Square, this Grand Plaza brings all visitors to Gibraltar right into the old town. The Square is a hive of activity hosting many cultural events such as an International Jazz Festival, Gibraltar National Day, Rock Concerts, Ceremony of the Keys and the amazing food festival – Calentita Night.
The Square is buzzing with different bars, cafes and restaurants, and shops and is therefore serviced by a major bus station and taxi rank so access is easy. It also remains within walking distance of anywhere that’s anywhere!
Casemates Square enjoys an incredible history. The main building was built in the 1800s as a bombproof barracks protecting the City of Gibraltar from attack by sea or land and until the 20th Century provided the only land entrance into the Garrison.
The site of the only hangings executed in Gibraltar, Casemates has a long military history and even today the Royal Gibraltar Regiment host the Ceremony of the Keys re-enacting the securing of the fortress by British troops in days of old.
Today, tasteful conversion has seen it modernised into a bustling town centre square and the artery to Gibraltar’s main shopping hub.
